It was after six and the dinner dishes had been cleared away and each of
the four partners was in possession of her own tumbler of Nell's White Russian.
Terri poked the campfire with a long section of re-bar and caused sparks to fly in
a miniature fireworks display. Kim sat on a small bench beside Nell and strummed
her Ovation softly. The conversation had ebbed and flowed from one topic to
another as it always did between the foursome.

Kim was well into her rendition of Melissa Etheridge's "I'm The Only One"
when the red Kawasaki Mule pulled up onto the campsite. Petey waited until Kim
was finished her song before she joined the group by the fire.

“Nice....very nice," she called over to Kim as she clapped in appreciation.

"Why thank you" Kim tipped her outback styled hat to Petey.

“Petey would you like one of Nell's libations or would you prefer a beer?" Jesse
offered to their guest.

“A beer would go down right nicely." Petey said as she sat down on a hewn log
bench and situated herself comfortably before the fire.

"Wassup Petey?" Terri asked as she poked the fire again.

"Not much, just taking a night cruise on the Mule" she said with a slight twinge of
sadness. "The park won't be this quiet for the rest of the season and I wanted to
enjoy it." she said as she accepted the beer that Jesse offered her. "Thanks
Jesse."

"You’re welcome Petey" Jesse said graciously.

"Petey childe, did you happen to check on our guests?" Nell asked as she
gathered the tumblers for the next round.

"Not yet, but I was considering it" Petey nodded with an easy-going smile. "There
is definitely a story there."

"In what way?" Kim asked as she put her Ovation back in its case for a while.

"Well, the camper is brand new and it looks like they backed up to Army surplus
store and filled it up. I don't think either one of them has had much experience
camping." Petey ventured to the group.

Kim laughed as she took a drink from her tumbler. "We've all been there Petey."
"When yer a newbie if it looks like gear you buy it. Then once you get your
camping feet wet you discard half the shit and become inventive with the rest"
she chuckled. Kim reached beside her a grasped Nell's hand. "We did the same
thing didn't we Hon?"

"Good lord, yes" Nell agreed as she peered over the rim of her glasses at the
comely blond seated across the campfire. "What do you think of the new
guests?"

"Depends...did they pay by check or credit card?" Petey inquired innocently.

“Good ole Mastercard!" Jesse piped up.

"Cool....plastic...no chance of a bounced check" Petey quipped easily.

“Well they certainly have my vote to stay in the park" Terri interjected. "My
philosophy is you don't turn away a woman who knows how to throw down a
charge card."

"Now that is a philosophy we can all live with" Nell agreed.

“To our Lesbian Sisterhood, with disposable income, pets and Power tools…..…..
be ye femme, dom, dyke, butch, lipstick les, bi , tans, curious, tasting or turning….
we welcome you all.” Kim shouted into the night.

Nell walked over and hugged Kim close. “And with those stirring words, behold
the park was filled with every color, size and shape of shappic sister…”

Jesse just shook her head as she snuggled on Terri’s shoulder. “ I just hope we
have enough batteries ………”
