Rachel swayed in the swing at the end of their lot. The late afternoon sun dappled
through the pines, casting a free-form quilt of shadows against the ground. She had
brought a book to read but it lay unopened beside her. She closed her eyes and let
the gentle drift of the rustic swing move her. The warm afternoon breeze caressed her
as she sat cradled in the swing. This was not a moment that Rachel had experienced
much in her professional life. She spent her time dashing from one meeting to the
next; one crisis to the next; one tragedy to the next. This was an interlude of peace. A
submission to solitude. A walk down a rarely tread path. The soft rhythmic creak of
the swing lulled her thumping heart. The cooing of a morning dove calling to its mate
was nature's serenade. This was a taste of pure and simple bliss.

Rachel heard the footsteps approaching her from behind. Reluctantly she opened her
eyes as Dory sat down next to her.

“I thought you were still nursing your hang-over,” Rachel looked at the now completely
revived Dory.

“I am feeling much better now!" Dory chirped cheerfully. She winked as she began to
unpack the backpack she unslung from her shoulder.

“I saw you down here and I thought we'd have a picnic!" Dory smiled.

Out of the backpack came a chilled bottle of white wine, some zip locked baggies of
peeled and sliced apples, chunks of Colby and cheddar cheese, Melba toast, and
lastly; a baggie of huge California strawberries followed by a container of yogurt. She
also brought out two plastic cups, two paper plates, some napkins and utensils. She
laid the items carefully between the two of them.

“Wow......" Rachel whistled.

“Impressed?" Dory giggled impishly.

“Yes....very!" Rachel admitted honestly.

Dory sat sideways in the swing and crossed her legs Indian style, pulled her hair
behind her ears and pushed her shades up on top of her head. She was adorable,
looking almost like a teenager, in her short denim shorts and simple white tank. Dory
opened each of the baggies and placed apples, cheese and bread on a plate for
Rachel. She picked up the wine and corkscrew and handed it to Rachel with her nose
crinkled up.

“I know......you like what's in the bottle, not the process of getting in it!" Rachel laughed.

“You know I always break the cork!" Dory grimaced as she fixed a plate of goodies
for herself. “You’re better at popping corks than I am" she admitted without guile.

"So where did all these goodies come from?" Rachel asked as she poured wine for
them both.

“I went shopping at the camp store. Now that......
was interesting!" Dory laughed as
she popped a piece of cheese in her mouth. “By the way..... I am so loving that little
golf cart thingy!"

“I kind of figured you would...." Rachel grinned.

“The store is way different than what I expected......" Dory happily chattered as she
took a sip of wine. “They have a wine chiller.....which
impressed me, a refrigerated
area with grocery items, imported cheeses....pate.....fresh fruit.....eggs and staples....
of course every type of beer or wine cooler you'd want. They have fresh baked
breads from the restaurant....and.......um......I guess the usual things you'd find at a
little corner grocery.....except one this one section I have
never seen in any grocery
store
......" Dory bubbled on as she snacked. She took a strawberry and dipped it in
the yogurt and offered it to Rachel's mouth.

Rachel took a bite of the berry and rolled her eyes.

“Oh...my god.....that is luscious!' she exclaimed as the sweet juice gushed and
dribbled from the corner of her mouth. Quick as lighting, Dory bent over and licked the
juice from Rachel's mouth and then lightly ran her tongue across Rachel's lips then she
was kissing her. Tasting the strawberry and the wine, it was a long slow kiss. When
they finally parted, Dory leaned back and smiled.

"Good strawberry!" she agreed.

“You’re too much...." Rachel snickered as she sipped the cool wine. Rachel was
enjoying this little interlude, the impromptu picnic, the setting. This was fun.

"So......what else did they have?" Rachel asked as she watched Dory dip another
huge strawberry in the yogurt.

“Well.....to the right of the checkout station is a glass beaded doorway. Over the top it
says 'Over Eighteen Only.....and can you believe this....they card you!' Dory shook her
head.

“I take it you went in..." Rachel cocked her head as she eyed Dory knowingly.

"But of course!" Dory shrugged her shoulders.

"And......" Rachel prompted.

“Well let's just say.....I bought you something...... to remember this trip by....." Dory
smiled a wickedly sexy smile as she offered Rachel another strawberry and another
kiss........
