Petey had safely snapped down the covering of the pontoon boat. They had docked
about an hour earlier. The morning’s excursion had been a great time for all the
women. Taylor had taken Dory and Rachel back up to their camper in her golf cart;
then Taylor had to head back up to the Lodge to do some prep work for the evening’s
menu. But she promised to meet up with Petey in about three hours and they would
cruise the park. A quick check of the pontoon boat to make sure everything was
secure and Petey was in the Mule and heading toward the office. She had some
receipts for Nell and always welcomed a chance to stop the headquarters of Labinky
Park.

After parking the Mule in one of the many slots reserved for UTV’s and golf carts that
lined the side of the rambling log building, she waved at the Security guard on duty
and walked up the flag-stoned steps and into the foyer of the office vestibule. There
were two secretaries waiting on residents and as soon as Petey walked in, they
stopped and smiled and Petey flashed them her trademark dazzling smile. It never
failed to leave the secretaries blushing and then fumbling as they tried to remember
where they were before Petey stepped through the door. Petey just shook her head
and headed past the swinging half door that divided the office area and headed back
toward Nell’s office. She poked her head in, but Nell was no where to be seen, so
Petey headed in the next logical direction, which was Jesse’s office. And sure enough,
there was Nell, Jesse and Terri. The women looked relaxed and were laughing about
something when Petey stuck her head in and grinned.

“So…here you are….” Petey nodded toward Nell.

“Were you looking for little ole me?” Nell’s soft southern drawl was like warm dripping
honey to Petey’s ears.

“God….I love to hear you talk….” Petey smiled as she walked in and pulled up a chair
and join the group.

“And I love that New England accent of yours” Nell smiled as watched Petey join the
group.

“I’ve got some receipts for the dock repairs for you...” and Petey handed over the
purple pocket folder she had with the receipts safely tucked inside.

“Ahh….just what we needed this morning…more work...” Jesse chuckled good-
naturedly.

It was then that Sean the Security Guard knocked on the door to Jesse’s office and
behind him was a tall West Virginia State Trooper.

“Jesse…this officer needs to speak with you.” Sean said nervously.

“What can I do for you officer?” Jesse smiled at the patrolman.

“I need to see some Identification ma’am” the patrolman said in a matter-of-fact tone.
Jesse reached for her wallet that was lying on the desk and handed the officer her
license. She shrugged her shoulders at Terri who shot her a
‘what-the-fuck’ look.

“Ma’am I need you to come with me.” The officer instructed as he handed her back
her license.

“What for?” Jesse asked in total surprise.

“No fuckin’ way…” Terri growled as she got to her feet. The State police man eyed
the women in the room carefully.

“We are taking you into protective custody and transporting you to the emergency
room for observation.” The patrolman stated carefully.

“No way…” Nell gasped and grabbed Jesse’s hand that was now visibly shaking.

“Ladies….” The patrolman stood his ground and waited for Jesse to move toward the
door. “we have an order to pick up Jesse
Martin and transport her to the emergency
room.... Ma’am I am here to pick you up and transport you. Now we can do this the
easy way, or we can do the hard way. My orders are clear.”

Jesse looked at Terri and saw her reaction and knew that if she did not cooperate
there would be hell to pay. Terri was not going to back down easily.

“Baby….it’s ok….” Jesse’s voice quavered.

“No it’s not! This is that
Cunt’s doing!” Terri started to stand between Jesse and the
State Policeman.

“No…..Baby….it will be ok….” Jesse tried to smile but she knew that this was the
beginning of something very bad.

“This isn’t right!” Terri cried out and Petey grabbed Terri and held her back as Jesse
headed to the door.

“I….love you….” Jesse looked back before she went through the door and she blew a
kiss toward Terri.

The security guard, State Trooper and Jesse headed out of the Lodge and for one
brief moment, Jesse was tempted to run. But the officer sensed that she was about to
flee and grabbed her just above her elbow and escorted her to his unit that was sitting
beside the guard shack. Although she was trembling Jesse was holding her own, the
Trooper was mumbling into his radio then he opened the back door and guided Jesse
into the back seat. Jesse just kept taking deep breaths and tried to blink back the tears
that threatened to spill over.

“This is fuckin’ whacked.” She heard Terri’s voice just beyond the patrol car. It was all
Petey could do to keep Terri from attacking the cop. She struggled to keep her boss
from making the situation worse, she literally had Terri in a bear hug keeping her as far
away from the Trooper as she possibly could.

“Ma’am I need you to extend your wrists…” the officer spoke in an almost gentle
voice.

Jesse looked up pleadingly and really began to shake. “Ma’am it’s procedure…” he
assured her.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” Terri’s voice screamed as she watched the patrolman
slide the hand cuffs on Jesse and heard the distinctive clicks as they tightened on her
wrists.

But Jesse no longer heard her, she could not hear anyone now…….
