Nell heard Kim when she entered the camper. For a moment she
debated upon getting up, but only for a moment. She had left the party
on the ruse that she was going to the bathroom over two hours ago.
She had all intentions of going back to join the girls by the campfire.
But she started to tidy up a few things. Then she thought that she
would go ahead and turn down the bed. Once
she saw those flannel sheets all she could think about was snuggling
down between them. So she did.

Off came the sweats which were folded neatly and put on top of the
hamper and on went the night shirt. She had just dozed off when she
heard the unmistakable sound of Kim stumbling over her own boots
that were left by the door. She smiled in the darkness. When Kim
cursed in a stage whisper, Nell almost laughed out loud. A light clicked
on and the sounds of Kim on a munchie hunt were accented by the
fridge opening and closing about a dozen times. A cupboard drum roll
followed and clattering silverware completed the symphony.

Nell had almost fallen asleep when Kim came through the doorway
with a tray of crackers, cheese, chips and soda.

"Ahhh....Kim....does it look like we have a picnic table in here?" came
the soft southern drawl.

Kim looked down at the array of junk food she had compiled and then
back at Nell with imploring eyes. Nell merely smiled and pointed with
her hand silently at the dining area.

"Alright” Kim conceded as she reluctantly turned toward the
kitchenette. "But I brought some for you too" she shot back over her
shoulder.

“I appreciate the thought, but I appreciate not having cracker crumbs
in my bed more." Nell smiled at the retreating Kim.

It was just another skirmish in the ongoing war of the odd-couple
lesbian style. They were definitely on opposite sides regarding
domestic issues. Nell was a right-wing advocate for cleanliness with
sterilization as optional whereas; Kim leaned more toward the left,
things left on the floor, tools left on the table, hats left in the bed. Nell
believed in a place for everything and everything in its place and for
her part Kim pretty much left anything in just about every place
possible.

Nell dozed off to the slightly muted sounds of chips and crackers
being consumed in the next room at the designated table. Kim slipped
into their bed crumbless and crackerless an hour later. Nell shivered
slightly as Kim adjusted the covers and inadvertently pulled them off
her. With lightning speed Nell grabbed the receding cover and pulled it
back in place. The blanket was now in a death grip and short of sawing
off Nell's arm was not going to be moved one centimeter closer in
Kim's domain.  And this….. was the blanket issue.
