Jesse had been uploading some new pictures for the company web site for most of the morning. It was stuff that she loved to do and she was lost in the project. With both a laptop and a desktop happily humming in unison, Jesse worked between the two. Uploading new park pictures on the desktop and downloading e-mail requests for more information on the laptop. Then she began processing reservations and credit card deposits. It took a while for the noise in the outer office to get through Jesse's concentration. The loud angry voice finally grabbed her attention. "What is this bullshit about having to pay your dues in advance before being allowed to use your lot?" a large red-faced male waved a blue letter in Nell's face. "It is simple Mr. Granger," Nell smiled and answered calmly. "In order to be fair to everyone all dues are to be paid as soon as the electric and water have been turned on to the units." "I never had to paid it like this before and I was not properly informed of this change and it violates the bylaws for this facility." He stepped closer to the counter and tried to imitate Nell. "Jesse, could you pull up the registered letters signed for and Mr. Granger's membership application?” Nell's asked in that sugar sweet accent of her's. Jesse went over to an office computer and within seconds the printer was printing out Nell's request. Jesse went over to a lateral file cabinet and pulled out a large file with Delmar Granger on the tab. She handed both articles to Nell who laid them out before the angry resident. "This is a copy of the registered letter that you signed for. We had it scanned into the computer for just such an occasion as this. And as you can see, both the signature you signed for the letter and signature on your application are the same and they will hold up to an analysis should that be needed." Nell continued in her calm southern drawl. "You were informed six months ago of this new criteria as specified in the bylaws. It is the same for each member, with no exceptions. Now if you would like to enjoy your season at the park, then your dues are to be paid now and you will be given a pass that allows you full access to the facility.” Mr. Granger's gruff demeanor gave way to a look of embarrassment at having been caught in a lie. With a grunt of dissatisfaction, he drew out a check book and began writing. "I do hope you enjoy your stay with us this year, Mr. Granger. We are so looking forward to sharing this wonderful season with you and your family." Nell smiled graciously as she accepted his check. Jesse watched as the man lumbered out the door. “Man I am so glad Kim put in that scanning package together for us. Nice save on the registered letter signature.” Nell looked at the check and nodded in agreement. “Trust me on this, he won't be the last one that will try to wiggle out of paying the dues before he gets to open up his unit for the season. Besides the only reason that ole coot keeps coming around here season after season is that he wants to catch something illegal going on now that we have bought out the old ownership.” "I guess we have put quite a few people's noses out of joint. I don't think anyone expected that the bank would back us on this venture.” "That's just it, we knew we could do it Jess. We had the vision, we had a well devised business plan and we are lucky enough to be here in West Virginia where redneck banks will front the monies to run a moonshine still.” "Ya know….I always wondered why the teller would ask me if I was making our deposit by the quart or gallon" Jesse deadpanned while shaking her head.
