Terri watched as Lindy and Kim put the final touches on the sound check.
She could hear their playful and teasing banter from her table. Nell kicked a
chair out next to her and sat down with a tray of drinks. Kim ambled over
and grabbed a ice cold Sky Blue and winked at Nell. Just as Lindy reached
for one of the blue bottles, Nell handed her bottled water.

“You’re working, remember?" Nell reminded Lindy.

“Ahhh Nell....Nell...Nell...." Lindy clucked. “Ya gotta lighten up....you know I
have to loosen up these pipes. A voice like this needs a little lubrication
especially after eating all the dust I did to get here." Lindy flashed her fuck-
off grin.

“When your last set is done...then by all means feel free to belly up to the
bar my dear....but until then…. I suggest using the bottled water to lube
your cords” Nell said in a voice that made it clear that there was no room to
compromise.

Jesse made her way through the maze of bodies that had filled the lodge .
No small feat considering that she was stopped every few steps to talk to
returning guests and to greet newcomers. She grabbed the chair beside
Terri and sank down gratefully.

"Where did all these people come from?" she laughed.

“Babe, it is always like this the first night we open." Terri smiled at her
partner.

“So who is doin’ the honors this time?” Jesse asked as she grabbed a cold
blue bottle and took a long drink.

“You are babe.” Terri smiled as Jesse choked and spewed Sky all over
herself.

“Hey, why me?" Jesse implored the group.

"Now you know the rule, the last one to the table does the Intro.” Nell chided
gently.

“Yeah, well it is a stupid rule and I want it put on the agenda for changing at
the next meeting." Jesse pouted.

"Duly noted. But for now....you get yer booty up to the stage and welcome
our guests to another season." Nell pulled the reluctant Jesse from her seat
and pushed her toward the stage.

Jesse walked up the two steps and headed for stage center. A lone mic
gave some reverb feedback when she tapped it. The sound got the attention
of the crowd of men and women and the talking subsided somewhat to a
manageable decibel.

“Well.... it seems that I have been elected to give the welcoming speech."
she began as she shot her companions what she hoped was a scorching
look. “So on behalf of my partners sitting so smugly over in the corner, we
welcome you all to another season at Labinky's.  Tonight an old friend is
returning to entertain you. Please join me in welcoming back Lindy Jones."
Jesse clapped as Lindy joined her on stage.

Lindy smiled to the crowd and strapped on her guitar. She lightly
strummed a few licks "Are ya ready to par-tay” she growled sexily. The lights
dimmed and the spotlight rested on her standing alone on the stage. There
was no doubt about it. She had a presence. The crowd responded with
whistles and catcalls. “Now why don't ya just get up on your feet cause we
are gonna
rock tonight!” She started to do a heavy rock strum, her hand
moving effortlessly from chord to chord.

“How bout we start off with a little Ethridge....." she shot a 'fuck you'
look at Nell. “I am soooo thirsty......" she breathed into the microphone as
she intro'ed into "Bring Me Some Water".
